Artist
Todd Williamson — biography & recognition
Biography
Todd Williamson is a contemporary abstract artist based in Los Angeles, California. His large-scale paintings sit at the intersection of abstraction, memory, and power: through layered color, embedded language, and durational process, he examines how influence—cultural, institutional, and personal—marks the surface of what we see and remember.
His practice moves between public contexts and the privacy of the studio. Canvases accrue history through revision, erasure, and return; the work invites slow looking and withholds as much as it reveals.
Williamson is internationally exhibited. He presented Processional as an official collateral event of the 58th Venice Biennale (2019), with support from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation. His paintings and installations have appeared in museums and galleries across the United States, Europe, and Mexico, and in major group exhibitions alongside recognized names in contemporary art. He received the Pollock-Krasner Foundation Prize for Creativity and additional grants and honors listed below.
Collectors, corporations, and institutions hold his work in the United States and abroad—from museum and foundation collections to hospitality and corporate placements. The studio welcomes serious inquiries regarding acquisitions, commissions, and placement for offices and public spaces.
He continues to develop bodies of work that treat the canvas as a field where time, text, and color negotiate authority.
